  • Our clients include independent schools, boarding schools, college and universities across the nation. We have a small, but talented team. There are typically five employees in the office a day. Our clients do not visit our office—we closely work with them through emails, conference calls and in-person visits to their campuses.

    Interns will be able to contribute to design, project management and, possibly, editorial work—giving you a wide perspective on agency life. Possible projects may include:

    Resizing ads for clients

    Making client edits to print materials or digital communications

    Creating travel estimates

    Developing creative for Creosote’s social media or website

    Organizing samples and closing job jackets

    Creating schedules for upcoming projects

    Participating in creative brainstorms

    Hours and days are flexible. Ideally, an intern will be available 2-3 days a week, totaling 8-12 hours a week. An agreed upon schedule and hourly rate will be included in the position offering.

    Copywriters at Creosote work closely with our account manager, creative director, lead researcher and lead copywriter to contribute to client and agency projects. As a core team member, copywriters are part of a process that reveals why an institution is relevant and remarkable, and identifies opportunities to inspire engagement—and more importantly results.

    We are looking for:

    —A college graduate.

    —An experienced copywriter (3 years or more in a writing role).

    —Someone interested in working at a full-service, small agency.

    —A team member who is familiar with or experienced in the education industry.

    —A motivated writer who is excited to deliver exceptional editorial solutions.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in or has the skills to begin:

    —Interviewing clients and other sources for information in order to generate strategies, concepts, and copy

    —Conducting primary and secondary research to fully understand clients’ mission and market position

    —Working in collaboration with researcher, project managers, art director, designers, developers, and other personnel to generate strategies, concepts, themes, content outlines, and editorial content

    —Writing, editing and proofreading copy in all forms of copywriting (i.e. long-form storytelling, compelling short form for advertising/direct mail, organized and informative writing for websites, etc.)

    —Attending and documenting responses during on site discussion groups to assist entire project team in creative development

    —Presenting concepts/editorial during internal brainstorming

    —Joining other project personnel on site to share concepts/editorial during client presentations

    —Assisting in generation of proposals, responses to RFPs and internal marketing initiatives

    —Mentoring other team members, especially other copywriters

    —Representing agency periodically at industry conferences

    —Assisting in the recruitment of other editorial personnel, including interns

    —Adhering to timelines and managing priorities to meet milestones and deadlines

    —Possessing strong interpersonal skills

    —Leading client conference calls and client email correspondence

    —Willingness to change/expand/evolve roles and responsibilities as business dictates and as deemed mutually acceptable
